Program Technician – Habitat Programs
This is a casual position working 75 hours bi-weekly until October 1, 2026.

Your role
As a Habitat Technician, you’ll support our vision and values by supporting the Habitat Program through program data management and project coordination. You will play a key role in maintaining high-quality geospatial and vegetation data, producing clear and informative reports, and assisting with the design and logistics of field programs. Your work will help ensure that habitat information is accurate, accessible, and effectively used to inform conservation and land management decisions.

Essential Qualifications

- Diploma in environmental sciences or related field, including physical geography, biology or natural resources.
- Experience in compiling, entering, and managing environmental or biophysical data
- Experience interpreting and summarizing environmental or biological data for a variety of audiences
- Experience with geospatial tools and data including GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
Knowledge, Skills And Suitability
To support key objectives and operational needs of this position, candidates should have and will be assessed on the following:
- Knowledge of Yukon or northern ecosystems and plants
- Knowledge of plant species nomenclature, taxonomy, and standardized biological naming conventions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently
- Strong ability to organize and manage time
